Kamal S. Soor
Kamal Soor started his career charting stocks and economic indicators at The Financial Post, Canada’s leading national business newspaper.
Upon moving to Boston in 1994, he joined Boston Security Counsellors (BSC), an investment management company with $1.1 billion under management. Reporting to the CEO, he was Portfolio Assistant for the firm’s two equity mutual funds, Advantage Special, a small-cap fund, and Advantage Growth, a large-cap fund. Mr. Soor helped manage $120 million of assets in the funds and conducted fundamental and technical analysis to help make buy and sell decisions. He gained significant knowledge of multiple industries ranging from semiconductors to consumer products and met with company executives on a daily basis.
After leaving BSC, Mr. Soor founded Castlefield & Company Inc., a credit card technology company that marketed fully-integrated payment solutions to small and medium sized businesses.
He has an MBA from Babson College with a focus on Investments, and a BSc in Computer Science from Framingham State College. While getting his MBA, Mr. Soor was Portfolio Manager - Healthcare for the Babson College Fund, the student-run portion of the school’s endowment. Upon completing his MBA, Mr. Soor worked at Atlantic Trust – Pell Rudman where he assisted Mid-cap Portfolio Manager, Fred Weiss, with Healthcare coverage. Since 2004, Mr. Soor has been investing on his own.
